I hired Electrx to install a couple of outdoor lights (with sensors), a motion sensor for an existing car port light, hard-wired doorbell camera, additional GPOs in the kitchen and converted existing recessed ceiling downlights into pendant lights which turned out great! Bill provided a reasonable quote for these works and he and his colleague did the works with care and attention to detail. They also helped me setup the doorbell camera and adjust the light sensors. Signs it’s time to rewire

Rubber or cloth wiring: this is the sheathing found in most homes built before 1980, and by now it’s brittle and a real fire risk
Ceramic fuses instead of safety switches: an old style setup that won’t cut power the way a modern safety switch will
Fuses that keep blowing: your circuits are being asked to carry more than they were built for
Not enough powerpoints: if double adaptors and extension leads are doing the work your walls should be doing, that’s a sign
Flickering lights or warm switches: usually points to loose connections or wiring that’s undersized for what’s running through it
Renovating or adding a kitchen or bathroom: a good time to bring the wiring up to standard while the walls are already open
Buying or selling a home: knowing where you stand on the wiring removes a big unknown at inspection time

You might not need the whole house done. Once we’ve had a look at your wiring and switchboard, we’ll tell you honestly which one applies to your home:

A partial rewire: we replace the specific circuits that are old, damaged, or not up to the job anymore
A full rewire: we replace all the wiring, usually alongside a switchboard upgrade and new safety switches

All our rewiring is carried out to AS/NZS 3000 by a licensed Registered Electrical Contractor (REC 31135). We fit new safety switches, test every circuit, and hand over a Certificate of Electrical Safety once it’s done. Where we can, we run new cabling through roof spaces and cavities so we’re not cutting into your walls more than we have to.

A full rewire of an average home usually takes a few days, depending on the size of the place, how easy it is to get to the wiring, and whether you’re living in during the work. A partial rewire can often be done in a day. We’ll give you a clear timeframe with your quote.

Usually not. We stage the work so you keep power to parts of the home where we can, and we tidy up as we go. For a bigger full rewire, we’ll walk you through what to expect day by day.

We keep cutting to a minimum and run cabling through roof spaces, subfloors, and existing cavities wherever we can. Some access holes are unavoidable, but we’re careful, we patch where we can, and we’ll tell you up front if any making good is needed.

Yes. Every rewire is tested and comes with a Certificate of Electrical Safety confirming the work meets AS/NZS 3000. That’s your proof the wiring is safe and compliant, which matters for insurance and for selling the home later on.
