Trusted Electrician in Ascot Vale For Homes
Why Ascot Vale Locals Choose Electrx
Many Ascot Vale Homes Have original features and original Wiring
The Victorian terraces, the Edwardian villas, the tree-lined streets, it’s a genuinely beautiful suburb. But underneath all that period charm is wiring that in many cases hasn’t been touched since the house was built. And some of these homes are pushing 100 years old.
We work in Ascot Vale regularly and we know what to expect when we open up a meter box or get into the walls of a period home. Old fuses, no safety switches, minimal power points, and circuits that were designed for a handful of lights and nothing else. If you’re renovating, or even just thinking about it, the electrical side needs proper attention before anything else goes

Renovating a Period Home? The Electrics Are Probably the Biggest Job
This is where we spend a lot of our time in Ascot Vale. Someone buys a beautiful Victorian or Edwardian home, starts opening up walls for a renovation, and discovers the wiring is original, or close to it. Cotton wrapped wiring, no earth wires, fuse boxes that belong in a museum.
It’s not a disaster, but it does need to be done properly.
A full rewire during a renovation is actually the best time to do it. The walls are already open, the trades are already on site, and you only have to do it once. We work alongside builders and architects regularly and we know how to get the electrical sorted without holding up the rest of the project.
Getting the Lighting Right in a Heritage Home
This is something a lot of Ascot Vale homeowners feel strongly about, and rightly so. You’ve spent good money restoring a period home and the last thing you want is a row of harsh downlights that look completely out of place.
Electrx are Beacon preffered electricians and we love lighting! We take the time to understand what you’re going for. Whether that’s warm dimmable lighting that suits the era of the home, feature lighting that highlights original cornices or ceiling roses, or a mix of period-style fittings with modern LED globes hidden inside, we’ll help you get the look right without compromising on efficiency or function.
